The secret of happiness is to live moment by moment and to thank God for all that He, in His goodness, sends us day after day.— St. Gianna Molla

Dear Ladies,

This year has certainly tested and turned our lives upside down. And yet, ordinary people have come together to do extraordinary things to help each other, even something as small as donating to a food pantry.

I trust that each of you has found something new to help you through these trying times. Perhaps just taking a quiet walk, listening to relaxing music or reading a good book. I find it a blessing to once again be able to attend Mass in person and be able to receive Communion even though it is somewhat different. I have
discovered an excellent author, speaker and theologian who you might be interested in checking out. His name is Bishop Robert Barron and the founder of the global media ministry, Word on Fire. His website is www.wordonfire.org. He is a wonderful, inspirational speaker who I highly recommend. On this website you can sign up for daily reflections.

We have missed out on some activities and meetings but it could not be helped – safety first. However now that venues are opening up somewhat, we are forging ahead with our November meeting and the Christmas luncheon which I sincerely hope many of you will attend. Please see the upcoming dates below and the
registration instructions for the next three events inside this newsletter. Social distancing will be practiced at the events and masks required.

By now you have received the yearbook for 2020-2021 and all upcoming events are listed there. Please look them over and mark your calendars. Please note, the December 13 Christmas Luncheon is at Noon, not 1pm as listed in the directory.

In September, I was finally able to present Maria with her outgoing President's gift in appreciation for her three years of service to Catholic Woman's Club.  Her sister let me know that Maria liked hand-painted Peruvian wine glasses.  I was able to present them to her in September (we are pictured below with Maria to the right). They are beautiful.
We hope she gets many years of use out of them and may she think of our group each time she uses them.
Thank you again Maria.

May God bless and keep all of you safe and well. Know that you are in my prayers.

Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel
Patroness of the
National Council of Catholic Women

God of heavenly wisdom, you have given us Mary, Mother of Jesus, to be our guide and counselor. Grant that we may always seek her motherly help in this life and so enjoy her blessed presence in the life to come.
O Mother of Good Counsel, patroness of the National Council of Catholic Women, intercede for us, that we may be wise, courageous and loving leaders of the Church. Help us, dear Mother, to know the mind of Jesus, your son. May the Holy Spirit fill us with reverence for God's creation, and compassion for all God's children. May our labors of love on earth enhance the reign of God and may God's gifts of faith and living hope prepare us for the fullness of the world to come. Amen
.
